Shayne grew-up on a Nebraska Sandhills ranch where his grandfather, dad, brother, uncle and three cousins lived and worked.
“Being the youngest of the family had its advantages and dis-advantages, well you know, when you’re the youngest and low man on the totem pole you always get all the good jobs, Snicker Snicker. Best part was learning the value of hard-work and how, no matter what, if you give something your all, it will work out and the job will get done. I really did love it and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.”
After graduating from the UNL Shayne went back to the Ranch and help his dad and brother get re-organized after a split from the cousins. Shayne made a deal with his dad, that he would come back for 18 months then head back to Lincoln to get an MBA, which was basically a cover story for figuring out what business to start-up. On a shoestring, a prayer, a great mentor and being married to his high School sweetheart, Strictly Business Magazine was launched and is still running strong to this day. Through the 30 plus years, Strictly Business Magazine has won a few awards including “Gamblers Award” from the Lincoln Independent Business Association and “Small Business of the Year” by the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce.
Through-out the last 30 + years Shayne continued to help out at the ranch as needed, especially during branding and haying seasons. “My father passed in 2011 and it was at that point my mom and I knew some big changes would need to be made to take the family into the future, and it was in that process I discovered the need and love for dealing in ag real estate.”
